The new Saint Laurent Take Away Bag that is creating quite a bit of hype

There is a limited amount of bag designs that fashion houses reuse over and over again. So when Saint Laurent launched the Takeaway Bag, we had to stop and take a second look.

YSL Take Away Bag – Features

The Takeaway handbag comes in two colors: black and beige – brown.

The black YSL Takeaway has the following features:

• it’s made out of calfskin leather, embossed with YSL logos
• the dimensions are 7.4 x 8.2 x 3.9 inches
• it has silver hardware
• it features an internal pocket and suede hardware

Price: $1890 | €1450 | £1350

The brown YSL Takeaway has the following features:

• made out of calfskin leather
• vegetable-tanned leather, fully embossed with the YSL initials
• gold hardware
• internal pocket and suede hardware

Price: $1890 | €1450 | £1350

As we can see the price is much higher in the US compared to mainland Europe or UK. If you have the chance, try purchasing it from abroad – as it’s going to be much cheaper.

Is the Saint Laurent Take Away bag worth buying?

The T.A. is obviously a playful style, a bag that does not take itself too seriously. It’s up to you if you want to add it to your collects ion, but here are the pros and cons:

PROS of the YSL Take Away bag:

• it’s a fun bag, unlike anything else you have in your collects ion. A true conversation starter
• a collects or’s piece – if you’re a Saint Laurent fan and love Anthony Vaccarello’s designs, you might want to buy this unique piece
• a chic, unexpected bag that might have a good resale value.
• if you attend lots of fancy events and you’re tired of the usual clutches, this might be a great alternative

CONS of the YSL Take Away handbag:

• pretty impractical : lacks a shoulder strap or chain
• expensive: almost $2000 for something that you’re likely not going to use too often
• the takeaway container shape is definitely not for everyone. Might look dated very soon.
• the black option (which we prefer for evening) only comes in silver hardware

Conclusion : The Take Away: YAY or NAY

We say, if you're a social butterfly that attends lots of fancy events and you're always looking for something a little different - then get this bag. It's fun and chic and a conversation starter, all in all a great purchase.

However, if you have a more conservative style and you're not sure how much wear you're going to get out of the box - then maybe give this one a miss and focus on the more classic YSL clutches.
